IRISH WEEK
The week from the 19th to the 23rd of January, the students from Infants to
Baccalaureate have celebrated the Irish Cultural Week. They were quite interested in
learning about its typical traditions, landscapes, food…
Throughout the week, the students have learnt many interesting and curious facts of this
green country full of legends and myths that nobody knows.
The little ones made a leprechauns hat and also they colored a beautiful picture of a four-
leaved clover that they decorated with glitter
The secondary students from 4th of ESO did different activities during the week. In
English classes we did a questionnaire about Ireland using the iPads. In Maths, History
and French we saw a video about the landscapes of the city, its history, and much more.
We enjoyed a power point presentation about William Yeats in Spanish class and later on
we listened to some of his most famous poems. We also learned how to draw Celtic
Knots using a video as a guide. We also had a competition to see who could finish first.
In Physics we read an article about an astronomer and we saw some photos of his new
invention. Moreover, we learned some interesting facts about the famous lucky leaf.
What is more, in the school dining room we have enjoyed a variety of food typical from
Ireland, such as shepherds pie; leeks, carrots and potatoes soup; the typical fish and
chips and to finish the week with a lovely meal we ate the popular English breakfast. The
students especially liked the last few meals.
It has been a very interesting week full of activities which helped us to be more informed
about other cultures apart from Spain, which will help us to understand other people
behaviour and other people points of view, and above all be more tolerant.
